    The plan by which a company, for the financial benefit of its owners and investors, monetizes its owners' investment in the company. IPO is an exit strategy that can be appropriate sometimes. Typically, a company's exit strategy will be to find a strategic or a financial buyer.  More than one hundred acquisitions occur for every one IPO. See Liquidity Event.
